Academic Procedures and Policies Committee
Charge: Develops and monitors policies for admission and retention of students, student progress in academic courses, awarding grades, academic integrity, criteria for graduation, scheduling of academically related deadlines, academically related student activities, and research protocol and ethics. Recognizes student organizations as academically related student activities.
Specific Responsibilities for 2003-04: Review process for
handling academic integrity violations; Increase student and faculty
awareness of academic integrity policies; Discuss grading issues including
grade inflation and letter grades vs. pass/fail for experiential courses
(e.g. May Seminars and cooperative education); Review/discuss AP/Post
Secondary course credit and maximum courses accepted by Concordia College;
Review current practices for listing secondary education majors; Review
policy of transcript recording of independent study courses; Review
origins of Alpha Society and determine if new qualification criteria need
Senate approval; Communicate/coordinate with retention committee; Work
with Admissions to develop and monitor policies related to admission
standards.
Membership consists of five faculty (one of whom is chair), two students and one representative each from academic affairs, student affairs, admissions and the registrar's office.
