Peterson, Viann Pederson, Don Rice, Kay Schneider, Mike Wohlfeil, and Jennie

- Assessment Symposium. Kay Schneider
reserved Frida Nilsen Lounge for the annual assessment banquet on March
7th. Dinner will be served followed by a short presentation by Mike
Wohlfeil on the role of assessment in institutional accreditation.
Attending faculty will be seated at tables according to common interest
areas. Some tables will have a short presentation followed by
discussion, while others will have no agenda other than discussion of
departmental assessment. Kay Schneider will route a list of potential
table topics to the committee.
- "Assessment and You" response.
The first assessment update was sent to students via the web. The
purpose of the "Assessment and You" update was to help
students understand why assessment activities are important to their
education. There were mixed responses to the assessment update. Kay
Schneider informed the group that any faculty submitting information for
publication to the web or faculty with specific areas of interest will
get a chance to review future updates before they are published to the
web. Student affairs related information will go through Morrie Lanning
prior to publication.
- Departmental Assessment Plans. Eighteen
out of approximately 26 departments on campus submitted annual
departmental summaries last year. The group discussed the role of the
evaluation committee in reviewing these summaries and providing feedback
to the departments. An ad hoc committee will develop a rubric for
reviewing departmental summaries before the next meeting. The members of
the ad hoc committee are: Don Rice, Mark Jensen, Mike Wohlfeil, Connie
Peterson, and Kay Schneider.
- Next Meeting. The next meeting of the
assessment committee will be on February 11 at 3:00 p.m. in Academy 207.
