Assessment Committee Minutes
October 9, 2003, Old Main 126, 10:30-11:30
Members Present:
Mary F. D. Larson,
Welcome: Welcome and introduction of student member, Paul Leister. We look forward to welcoming Kathleen Curtis, another student member, at the next meeting.
Mini-grants: Committee members engaged in a brief discussion regarding the application of a mini-grant from Health and Physical Education. Kay will forward the application to the committee for review. Please respond to Kay with recommendations for funding.
Comments on Goals for Liberal Learning: Committee members spent time discussing the recommendations being made to the Core Curriculum Committee regarding the assessment of the new curriculum. The discussion focused on combining items that seem to address the same issue and rephrasing items into action-oriented statements. Mike will rework the draft and send it out to the committee for feedback.
Departmental Assessment Reports: Kay provided the committee with an example of a departmental assessment report to review. Committee members were asked to review the example and determine how well the plan addresses the four areas for the assessment of student learning. We will review this example at the next meeting. Please bring your comments to the next meeting.
The plan is to divide into three subcommittees to review and make recommendations for each Departmental Assessment Plan.
As a Committee it is our goal to be as helpful as we can to
Departmental Assessment initiatives.
Mike will send a memo to the Department and
Future Meeting: The next meeting is scheduled for October 23 at 10:30 in room 126 of Old Main.
Respectfully submitted,
Mary F. D. Larson
