Concordia College Assessment Committee Minutes

Members Present: Betty Larson, Mary F. D. Larson, Ruth Lumb, Viann Pederson, Marilyn Guy, Kathie Leeper, Kay Schneider

 

  1. The April Assessment Workshop will be held next Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. 

 

  1. Kay discussed the Summer Assessment Workshop.  It will be held May 26-27 from 9 – 4.  Discussion was held regarding the importance of flexibility in schedule in order to better meet departmental needs.  The opening will probably focus on what the Higher Learning Commission expects from Concordia and what needs to be worked on.  This will include a re-cap of the self-study.  Faculty will be informed regarding what will be happening during the workshop so that those who are teaching during that time will know how much participation they may be able to schedule.  Departments will be asked to identify needs and whether a mentoring relationship would be valuable.

 

  1. The Self-Study Guidelines were reviewed and edited.  Focus was placed on increasing the clarity of the structure, the instructions, and the process of feeding results back into departmental plans.  In addition, the committee looked at the annual report guidelines.  Kay shared a rubric for evaluating annual reports she received at a recent conference.

 

  1. Because the Higher Learning Commission has revised the Self-Study Guidelines and because assessment will be integrated throughout the report, Kay and Marilyn will be sharing some of that information for future work.
