Lorentzsen Conference Room – 8 am
Members present: D. Anderson, M. Burchill, P. Fretham, A. Ingberg, G Muilenburg, D. Sandgren, S. Schwartz, L. Sethre-Hofstad.
The Core Committee continued their discussion of their courses submitted for various designations. The revised Biology 108 application was handed out for review and acceptance discussion.
The following courses were considered and accepted:
§ FND 300 – Historic Lifestyles (International/Global Perspectives)
§ FND 426 – Community Nutrition (US Cultural Diversity)
§ BIO 108 – Food, Fiber, and Drugs: Plants and People (Exploration N)
§ CHEM 128 – General Chemistry II: Short-Form (Exploration N) Passed provisionally for spring semester.
Discussion throughout the meeting centered on what the actual duties of the core committee involve now and what they will involve in the future. The purpose of the core will be fleshed out and solidified more precisely once the plethora of courses for the spring semester are all finished. Also, discussion also was started regarding the format and pathway for bringing courses to the core committee. Once again some forms raise questions and a general consensus is that these must be addressed. This too will be discussed following the completion of courses for the spring semester.
For the next meeting, all the Religion courses will be on the table for discussion. The courses will be divided among members for review. M. Burchill will distribute the allocations.
Next Meeting: Thursday October 11, 2007 at 8 am in the Lorentzsen Conference Room
Respectfully Submitted,
