Core Committee
October 11, 2007
Lorentzen conference Room
Members present: M. Burchill, P. Fretham, S. Schwartz, A. Ingberg, D. Anderson, D. Sandgren, G. Muilenburg, L. Sethre-Hofstad
The following courses were considered and accepted for Religion II designation (asterisk denotes course submitted on “Short Form” and therefore to be offered only once before resubmitted on the Standard Form):
While reviewing the Religion Core courses, the Committee noted the apparent lack of a Religion course focusing on science and ethics.
Credo 210* was starred; it will be taught only once in its present form because Credo courses are normally team-taught.
The committee will make arrangements to meet with Roy Hammerling, Chair of the Religion Department, and David Sprunger, coordinator for Writing Intensive Courses after break. Issues to be clarified include the Standard Form for Religion II courses, especially how to include the BREW question, and Core Committee’s role in standardizing expectations for Writing Intensive courses.
The committee’s next meeting will be on Thursday, October 18, at 8:00 a.m. in the Lorentzen Conference Room. We will discuss the three Psychology courses submitted on the Standard Form and begin mapping out our work for the second half of the semester.
Respectfully submitted,
Alfhild Ingberg
