Core Committee Minutes

December 6, 2007

Members present: D. Anderson, M. Burchill, A. Ingberg, D. Sandgren, L Sethre-Hofstad, G. Muilenburg, S. Schwartz

Special guests: Sharon Hoverson and Erica Rux, Library

Discussion centered on Information Literacy goals from the library, and the integration of the library into Inquiry Seminar and the Core curriculum courses more broadly. The library staff provided a handout, clarifying goals for first-year students, as well as a draft document of library goals for sophomores and juniors at Concordia. The committee discussed a variety of strategies that could be utilized to ensure all students in Inquiry have a consistent library experience, and it was agreed that the progress made to date was notable. Discussion will continue as the committee deliberates the proposed Capstone course, and as the library staff continues to work within departments on information literacy within disciplinary needs.

The next meeting will be Tuesday December 11, 2007, at 8:00 a.m.
