Minutes of the Curriculum Committee

Members present: Elna Solvang (Chair), Susan Cordes Green, Kristin Streifel, Tiffany Bellamy, Dan Breedon, Mark Gealy

Members absent: Stephen Grollman, David Boggs

Minutes of the October 3, 2005 meeting were approved.

The proposed new course Music 250 Australia and New Zealand: Music, Culture, People (pre-May Seminar) was revisited. Responses to the committee’s request for more specificity and focus in goals, expectations and assignments were considered. The course was approved.

At 8:30 we interviewed Dr. Barbara Ronningen-Torgerson to obtain answers to committee members’ questions pertaining to her case for changing the course number FNS 235 to a 300-level. (Dr. Cordes Green and Ms. Streifel had to leave for class prior to this interview.) The ensuing discussion generated a broad consensus that the request would be denied, but the final decision would await further deliberation.
