Curriculum Committee Minutes
Members present: David Boggs, Susan Cordes Green, Karissa Enger, Stephen Grollman, Gregg Muilenburg, Logan Richman, Elna Solvang (Chair), Bill Todt
The first item of business was a change in course level from Math 420 (Complex Analysis) to Math 328 (Complex Analysis). The request was approved. The math department also requested a change in requirements for the major: The change requested was from requiring 2.0 credits in laboratory science to one in the new Core Exploration Curriculum and a second course either in laboratory science or "Introduction to Computer Science (CSC 125). The committee requested some clarification in the wording of the requirement.
The next request concerned a new course proposal: Methods of Teaching Instrumental Music (1.0 credit; replaces EDU 393 at .5 credit). This course was approved. The music department also requested a change in requirements for the major – Bachelor of Music in Music Education: Instrumental Emphasis, namely an increase of .5 to reflect the EDU 393 move to 1 full credit. This change was approved. Similarly, a change in Requirements for the major: Bachelor of Arts in Music Education: Instrumental Emphasis, sought an increase of 0.5 credits because of full credit EDU 393 course. This change was also approved.
