For the first item of old business, the committee discussed the previously submitted new course proposal for History of Western music. The faculty made some clarifications for the committee, but the committee voted to postpone approval because we wanted the instructors to discuss with us in person an issue relating to the course outcomes on the syllabus.

The next item of old business was for changes in requirements of the gobal studies major. The changes were approved.

The final item of old business was a proposal for a new course: PSC 367 Arctic Nations Arctic Issues. The committee requested that the instructor make revisions on this course before the course will be approved.

The first item of new business was a modification of the course Russian 341 Russian Literature, 19th Century. This course will now be taught in English. This change was approved.

The final item of new business was for a modification of coruse in ENG 316. The original course title "Writing for the World of Work" will be renamed "Business Writing". This change was approved.

The next two items of new business came from Mathematics.  (1) A change in the math major from 10 to 9 credit hours and (2) the removal of the statistics option PSC 311 Methods and Techniques of Political Analysis. Both changes were approved.

The committee also discussed a proposal for eliminating the rule that students are restricted from taking more 10 courses in their major discipline (or two courses above the major requirement if the major requires more than 8 courses).

The meeting was adjourned at 2:30.

Respectfully submitted,
