Senate Coordinating Committee

Charge: Duties of the Senate Coordinating Committee

• Serve as a committee on committees
  • Recommend to the Faculty Senate to establish and discontinue standing committees and/or ad hoc task forces.
  • Refer faculty business to the appropriate committee.
  • Balance the workload among committees.
• Facilitate and coordinate the activities of the faculty standing committees and the Faculty Senate
  • Facilitate communication among faculty standing committees through assigning committee portfolios to its members.
  • Schedule items of business on the Faculty Senate agenda and recommend rules for the conduct of that business.
• Serve as a nominating committee
  • Solicit faculty interest in serving on committees.
  • Balance the committee workload among faculty.
  • Conduct elections according to Section 7.7 in the Bylaws.
  • Fill vacancies on committees and on the Faculty Senate when faculty are not able to complete a full term.

Specific Responsibilities for 2003-04: Bylaw changes; Review and update of constitution (e.g., electronic voting and Division Chairs); Clarify relationship between SCC and the Division Chairs; Coordinate curriculum revision discussion process.

Membership consists of the four elected faculty members of the Executive Committee of the Faculty, the secretary of the faculty, and the dean of the college (chair).  (current committee membership list)
