Senior Thesis
All Concordia Theatre majors create a “capstone” project in their senior year, combining practical work with written reflection in which students address the problems and solutions of their project. Thesis projects may be tied to a Mainstage production, a student-directed production, or involve non-production research. Students undertake a wide variety of projects, including directing, design, acting, dramaturgy, management, administration and playwriting. A faculty or staff advisor, based on the area of the project, mentors each senior. In 2008-2009, there will be one directing thesis, two costume design theses, two lighting design theses, one stage management thesis, five acting theses and a one-woman show. Jessie Bystrom will direct Wait Until Dark in the Lab Theatre. Tony Johnson will design costumes for Cabaret. Justine Ernst will design costumes for The Heidi Chronicles. Kelly McGannon will design lighting for The Trestle at Popelick Creek Aaron Goebel will design lighting for The Heidi Chronicles. Erin Green will Stage Manage The Madwoman of Chaillot. Maren Jystad will write and perform in a One-Woman Show. Ruth Christianson will perform in an acting thesis. Tony Milder will perform in an acting thesis. Lisa Shafer will perform in an acting thesis. Rob Sandness will perform in an acting thesis. Megan Dowd will perform in an acting thesis. In 2007 - 2008 there was three directing theses, a design thesis, two stage managing theses and two acting theses. Justine Moser directed a one act for a high school. Marit Geston directed [sic] in the Lab Theatre. Andrea Graham directed The Boys Next Door in the Lab Theatre. Chareese Jorgenson designed costumes as a thesis for The Boys Next Door. Liz Carey-Linskey Stage Managed for The Elephant Man. Laura Pieri State Managed Two Gentlemen of Verona. Jake Bauerneind performed in Two Gentlemen of Verona. Brad Kastendick performed in The Elephant Man. In 2006 - 2007 there were three Directing Theses, one stage design thesis, one stage management thesis, two acting thesis, and one management thesis.

In 2005 - 2006 there were two Directing Theses, two Acting Thesis and a Dramaturge Thesis.
In 2004 - 2005 there was one Directing Thesis, One Set Design Thesis, Three Acting Theses, One Lighting Design Thesis, Three Assistant Directing Thesis, and One Technical Director Thesis.
