Senior Thesis

 
Jack and Jill

     All Concordia Theatre majors create a “capstone” project in their senior year, combining practical work with written reflection in which students address the problems and solutions of their project. Thesis projects may be tied to a Mainstage production, a student-directed production, or involve non-production research. Students undertake a wide variety of projects, including directing, design, acting, dramaturgy, management, administration and playwriting. A faculty or staff advisor, based on the area of the project, mentors each senior.

In 2008-2009, there will be one directing thesis, two costume design theses, two lighting design theses, one stage management thesis, five acting theses and a one-woman show.

        Jessie Bystrom will direct Wait Until Dark in the Lab Theatre.

        Tony Johnson will design costumes for Cabaret.

        Justine Ernst will design costumes for The Heidi Chronicles.

        Kelly McGannon will design lighting for The Trestle at Popelick Creek

        Aaron Goebel will design lighting for The Heidi Chronicles.

        Erin Green will Stage Manage The Madwoman of Chaillot.

        Maren Jystad will write and perform in a One-Woman Show.

        Ruth Christianson will perform in an acting thesis.

        Tony Milder will perform in an acting thesis.

        Lisa Shafer will perform in an acting thesis.

        Rob Sandness will perform in an acting thesis.

        Megan Dowd will perform in an acting thesis.

In 2007 - 2008 there was three directing theses, a design thesis, two stage managing theses and two acting theses.

        Justine Moser directed a one act for a high school.

        Marit Geston directed [sic] in the Lab Theatre.

        Andrea Graham directed The Boys Next Door in the Lab Theatre.

        Chareese Jorgenson designed costumes as a thesis for The Boys Next Door.

        Liz Carey-Linskey Stage Managed for The Elephant Man.

        Laura Pieri State Managed Two Gentlemen of Verona.

        Jake Bauerneind performed in Two Gentlemen of Verona.

        Brad Kastendick performed in The Elephant Man.

In 2006 - 2007 there were three Directing Theses, one stage design thesis, one stage management thesis, two acting thesis, and one management thesis.

        Tasha Dunn directed How I Learned to Drive in the Lab Theatre.  The show which ran
        January 18-20, 2007.

        Alycia Hoff designed the set for the mainstage production, The Miracle Worker.  The
        show ran February 8-11, 2007.

        Steve Soler directed Details Cannot Body Wants, an independent production.  It
        performed February 16-17, 2007.

        Lydia Bolder directed Jack & Jill in the Lab Theatre. The show ran March 9-11,
        2007.

        Andrea Smith stage managed the mainstage production, Comedy of Errorrs.  The
        production ran March 29-31 and April 1, 2007.

        Danielle Pugh did a house management project for all of the shows during the fall
        semester 2006.

        Frank Sjodin performed an acting thesis as Captain Keller in The Miracle Worker.

        Charlie Retzlaff performed an acting thesis as Mr. Arthur Berling in An Inspector Calls.

 

In 2005 - 2006 there were two Directing Theses, two Acting Thesis and a Dramaturge Thesis.

Larissa Shea performed an acting thesis as Harper Pitt in Angels in AmericaAngels ran October 6-9.

Ryan Ripley directed The Shape of Things in the Lab Theatre.  The play ran January 13, 14, & 15, 2006.

Kali Palmer directed The Butterfly's Evil Spell in the Lab Theatre. The play ran March 17, 18, & 19, 2006.

Jessica Runck's did an acting thesis.  She portrayed Evelyn in The Shape of Things.

Anupama Ranawana did dramaturgy work for She Stoops to Conquer.  The play ran March 30, 31 and April 1, 2, 2006.

 

In 2004 - 2005 there was one Directing Thesis, One Set Design Thesis, Three Acting Theses, One Lighting Design Thesis, Three Assistant Directing Thesis, and One Technical Director Thesis.

D. Marie Long directed Independence in the Lab Theatre.

Krista Degerness designed and built the set for Independence.

Molly Zupanzich acted in Guys & Dolls as Miss Adelaide for her thesis.

Lisa Meyers acted in The Grapes of Wrath as Rose of Sharon for her thesis.

Joe Willand acted in Guys & Dolls as Nathan Detriot for his acting thesis.

Anthony Schutz designed the lighting for Lend Me a Tenor.

Jason Esperson was the Assistant Technical Director for Picnic and Guys and Dolls for his thesis.

Scott Brusven was Assistant Director of Guys & Dolls for his thesis.

Kristi Larson was Assistant Director of Lend Me a Tenor for her thesis.

Jessica Neu was Assistant Director for Guys & Dolls for her thesis.
