Submission Guidelines

Ascent publishes fiction, essays, and poetry. We are open to reading all types, styles and lengths. We have no editorial restrictions on form or content; frankly, we're interested in any work that's very good. We do not publish reviews or editorial articles, however. Ascent is published three times each year, during Fall, Winter and Spring. Response time is normally fairly fast, but can take as long as three or four months.

Manuscripts should include a SASE. We cannot consider email entries. The best way to understand what we're doing at Ascent, of course, is to read the journal. Look at our fiction, poetry and essays. Then, decide if your work fits what we seem to be doing.
