The German Department Believes that every
student should have the opportunity to study abroad. Time abroad
reinforces what you have learned in classes, adds depth to your understanding
of German culture, further develops your language proficiencies,
and helps you grow as a person. To this end we have developed programs
for every level of your education, from 10-day exploration seminars
that are embedded in individual courses, to full-year
programs. The following provides a listing of our current overseas
programming:
- Exploration
Seminars. Courses that include 10 days of travel abroad
during spring break. This spring, German is offering two exploration
seminars:
- Summer
Program in Wittenberg. Intermediate and advanced
language study, home stays, and weekend tours throughout eastern
Germany, including Berlin.
- May
Seminars. Month-long travel throughout central Europe as
the culmination of a course taught in spring.
- Internship
and Study in Germany. International Business majors work
and study in Mainz.
- Study
Year in Jena. Our study abroad exchange with the Friedrich
Schiller-Universität
in Jena.
- Scholarship
Year in Germany. Each year the Federation of German American
Clubs and the German Department sponsor one Concordia German
major to study at a university in Germany.
