How Do I Find a Specific Book?

If you are not looking for a particular book, but just want any book(s) on a particular subject, click here.

1. Go to MnPALS (the online library catalog), available from the library's homepage.

2. If you know the full title or the author's full name, search for your item by putting the author or title words in the Search for: box and making the appropriate choice in the Select Search Type: dropdown menu.

3. If you don't know the full title or the author's full name, the Advanced Search is more powerful. It allows you to search using multiple pieces of information at the same time. For example, search "Lewis" as Authors AND "wardrobe" as Titles will get you C.S. Lewis's The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Subject words can be useful here, too. Trying "Brown" as Authors AND "mystery" as Subjects returns Dan Brown's novel The Da Vinci Code.

4. If you find a book you want, it will tell you whether or not it is checked out. Books that Concordia does not own or that are checked out can be obtained by interlibrary loan.
