5/11 Cairo

Our first stop today was at the famous Museum of Egyptian Antiquities. Inside were many treasures from the Old, Middle, and New Kingdoms. The museum holds the treasures found in the tomb of King Tutankhamen. We were able to see his gold face mask, coffin, jewelry, and other valuables that were buried with the pharaoh. We also paid extra to see several mummies of the 16th, 17th, and 18th dynasties; Ramesses II, Tuthmosis IV, Sety I, Amenhotep I, Queen Nedjemet, and several others.

Still in the main part of Cairo, we visited the Citadel and inside that, the Alabaster Mosque which is also known as the Mosque of Mohammed Ali.

Most of the Egyptian population are Muslim. Here are two Muslim women and their children in the mosque.
