Garrick Larson
Head Men's Track & Field Coach
Concordia's College, Moorhead Minnesota, 56562 gzlarson@cord.edu | 218-299-4304 After completing a Biology degree at St. Olaf College in 1991, Garrick went on to graduate school at the University of Minnesota, specializing in Kinesiology. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, a Certified Level I and Level II USA Track and Field Coach and formerly a Licensed Certified Athletic Trainer. Currently, In addition to his coaching duties, Larson works as an Instructor in the Department of Physical Education and Health. Garrick Larson has been Head Men's Track & Field Coach at Concordia College since September of 1993. In his first four years as men's Track coach Garrick coached 5 All-Americans and 9 National Qualifiers, including the 1995 Indoor Shot Put National Champion, the 1995 Outdoor Discus National Champion, and the 4th Place 1995 Indoor 4 x 400 Meter Relay. In 1997 Garrick took over as the Head Men's Cross Country Coach. In just three years Larson brought the Cobbers up from dead last to 4th place in the MIAC. Larson earned MIAC Cross Country Coach of the Year honors in 1999 for his team's success. Larson has a diverse background within Track & Field. With the exception of the 400 Meter Intermediate Hurdles, the 3000 Meter Steeplechase and the Hammer, Garrick has competed in every event in Track & Field. As a student-athlete at St. Olaf College he competed in the Long Jump, Triple Jump, High Jump, Javelin, and Decathlon earning 20 All-Conference Honors, 3 MIAC Titles, and 2 trips to the NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships. Larson held the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Record in the Javelin from 1991 until 1999.
